I've been pondering that profit sharing cooperatives would solve some problems in businesses we are experiencing today, namely:

Increased workforce numbers and less unemployed, leading to a greater customer base with money in their pocket to buy products.

Incentives to improve productivity by encouraging all workers to be R&D specialists in their own position and to pass on suggestions which would lead to greater profit, because it would reward them directly in greater hourly rate of pay, and reduced working hours, without leading to what currently occurs which is loss of jobs for some, and increased working hours for those left behind!

It could also go some way to preventing the rise of career minded folk whose only interest is to exploit others work and to climb the corporate ladder on the back of others and not to contribute directly to the benefit of the business.

I agree with profit sharing co-operatives and that they can be a way to incentivise people to make more for the good of the business, especially if they have eco - concerns, that way the money goes to everyone in the business equally. I'm not sure if that's not going to be interpreted as communism though, I hope people see this as a good thing and don't start labeling it. Anyway, I also agree that there are too many people in business these days trying to climb the corporate ladder just to milk what they can out of a business rather than caring about the company they work for and the success of the business as a whole. Self serving people tend to hinder a business. I think that if more people worked together and were valued for what they did more instead of stepping on each other to get what they wanted this world and our economy might be in a better position than it is right now.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a career, but when it's at the expense of other people it's unethical, it's wrong. If people were more valued in what they did at the position they were in perhaps they wouldn't have the need to do this. You can develop within a role (without back stabbing) expand your role within a company to improve it where you work, without necessarily climbing to the top.
If you have a director who listens to his employees that's a good start. I like approachable bosses, who listen and who take good ideas on board, I think it's very important for all members of a business to communicate and share ideas to move a company forward.
