My hope is that innovative solutions such as these that allow for more (sustainable) rubber production don't distract us from ignoring why we consume so much in the first place - but rather draw attention to the real innovation here being that which lies in taking a larger systemic view. Where social innovation inspires environmental and economic health. Creating a more resilient local economy that is better equipped to meet challenges as they continually evolve, is what I am pleased to see at the root of this initiative. Go Jungle Boy!
