Registration:

1. Why do I need to register on The Good Entrepreneur website?
Registration is not a requirement for viewing content on The Good Entrepreneur however registered users have the ability to comment and rate content as well as contribute to the discussion forums.

3. Does registration make me an entrant?
No. Registration allows you to contribute to the community elements on the website. In order to become an entrant you need to fill in a second form and upload your video pitch.

4. I've registered but didn't receive my activation email, what should I do?
If you have registered but not received your activation email please send an email from the address you registered with to support@goodentrepreneur.com

Competition Entry:

1. How do I enter the competition?
First you need to register as a user of this website, you will then be given an opportunity to convert to an entrant by filling in the entry form and submitting your Pitch Video.

2. Can I enter no matter what age I am?
You must be over 18 on the 8th of June 2009. There is no upper age limit.

3. Can I enter if I am European but not living in Europe?
No. Only applicants based in Europe can apply.

4. How do I format and upload my Pitch Video?
Once you have registered an option is available to enter the competition and upload your video on your Profile Page.

- Keep your video to a maximium length of one minute.
- You may use, .avi, .mov or .wmv formats.
- Your video size must not exceed 100mb.
- Please do not upload videos which contain images or music which may be copyright protected.

* Please note that in order to upload your video you need to have the Adobe Flash plugin installed in your web browser. The Adobe Flash plugin can be install from here:http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

5. What else is required for entry apart from my Pitch Video?
In addition to your Pitch Video you will also be required to fill in a short form which asks you for more details around your business ideas. By entering the competition, you are deemed to accept the rules of entry for the competition.

6. What happens to my pitch material once I submit it?
As long as your Pitch Video is compliant with our rules of entry your video will appear on The Good Entrepreneur website for the public to view and registered users to comment and rate it.

7. Will other people be able to see my pitch online?
Yes. All entries that are compliant with our rules of entry will be published online under your Profile Page and in the Entries Pool page.

8. Is there a public vote?
No. Registered users can rate and comment your entry but this does not constitue a vote in the competition process. The judges decision is final and incontestable in all cases.

9. Will my Pitch Video be syndicated to other websites or publishers?
No. Your video will only be published on The Good Entrepreneur website however it may also be broadcast on CNBC in EMEA and Asia as part of the programming elements of The Good Entrepreneur.

10. How long will my pitch remain online?
Your pitch will remain online until the end of 2009 but if you require it can be removed after the competition closes on the 31st of July 2009. Once removed the details of your pitch will be deleted from CNBCs servers for security reasons.

11. Can I have my pitch removed from the website?
Yes. Just send a message to The Good Entrepreneur at support@goodentrepreneur.com from the email address you registered with including your full name, user name and reason for removal.

12. Will CNBC / Allianz protect my idea from plagiarism?
No. It is up to you make sure your idea is protected.

13. What happens if my entry is shortlisted?
If you make the final 10 this will be publicised on the website and mentioned in press releases and on CNBC TV. You will not be required to offer additional information or any other committments unless you are chosen as one of the three finalists.

14. What happens if I become a finalist?
If you are selected by our judges as one of the three finalists you will be informed by a member of the CNBC team immediately. You will be required to take part in four recorded television shows that will be filmed during the summer of 2009. You will also be required to take part in other marketing/PR efforts such as appearing on CNBC TV.

Judging:

1. How will my entry be judged?
Judges will use the following criteria to assess applications:
- Quality of idea in terms of environmental benefit
- Uniqueness/Originality of idea
- Quality of communication of idea in Pitch Video
- Quality of written application form
- Judges will be aware of the popularity indices and may take this into consideration but they will not be required to do so.

2. Who are the judges?
The following have agreed to judge the competition. This list is subject to change.

- Reid Hoffman, Founder & CEO, LinkedIn
- Dr. Armin Sandhoevel, CEO, Allianz Climate Solutions
- Sir David King, Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and UK Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser, 2000 – 2007
- Jean-Philippe Courtois, President, Microsoft International

3. When will judging take place?
The competition closes to new entries at midnight CET on July 31st 2009. Then the judging will start in order to reach a shortlist of 10 entries by 7th of August 2009. By the 17th of August 2009 the judges will have chosen the three finalists who will go on to take part in the television series.

4. Can I appeal the judges decision?
No. The decision of the judges is final.

The Prize:

1. What does the prize consist of?
The prize, which only goes to the winner as chosen by the five judges, consists of the following:
- €50,000 cash
- €30,000 work of video production (a 30 second TV spot plus two minute corporate video)
- €110,000 worth of airtime on CNBC
- €10,000 on a one-page advert in CNBC European Business magazine congratulating the winner, with CNBC producing the creative for this
- Business insurance for 2010
- €50,000 consultant support from business, IT or process consultant

2. Are there runners up prizes available?
No. A prize is only awarded to the overall winner.

4. If my entry wins the competition am I committed to activities with CNBC/Allianz after the winner is announced?
Yes. You will be required to take part in some PR which may involve an interview on CNBC TV or other media. You will also be required to assist in the making of a 30 second commercial spot revealing you and your idea as the winner.

5. If I am selected as one of the three finalists what are my commitments?
You will be required to take part in the filming of four television shows and be involved in other PR opportunities such as appearing live on CNBC TV. There will also be online commitments such as writing blogs to update followers of the competition on your progress. The bulk of the filming will take place between August 2009 and November 2009. During this period finalists will need to make themselves available to the shows producers. This will require a level of flexibility and all vacations will need to be declared upfront.

6. Am I bound to use the prize elements in a specific manner?
All the prize elements apart from the €50,000 cash are linked to the development of your business idea. It is the hope of CNBC & Allianz that the cash will be used to help further develop the business concept that has won the competition but there is nothing legally binding.

1. I have registered but can't login what should I do?
Once you have registered you should receive an email with an activation link that you need to click on to activate your account. It is possible that the email activation link may arrive in your Junk folder depending on your settings so please check there as well as your inbox for this email. If you haven't received this email or are still unable to login then please send an email from the address you used to register to support@goodentrepreneur.com including your full name, user name and the details of the problem and the steps that you have been through. Do not send us your password.

2. I have uploaded my video but it is not apprearing on my profile page.
Once you have submitted your video it enters a queue awaiting approval. Once the video is approved by a member of The Good Entrepreneur team you will receive an email confirming it has been approved and your video will appear on your profile page and in the Entries Pool.
