The Pitch:

Aerogel from rice and rice husk used to insulate zeppelin airship filled with superheated steam. Providing clean and green transportation with virtually zero carbon foot print with no need for transport infrastructures. Allows human to reach in accessible areas of the world. Aerogel can insulate cryogenic superconductors magnets which produces superheated steam with very efficiently energy use. Many other application of aerogels inclued production of silicon metal powder from rice husk for production of solar photovoltaic cells.

Comments:

Dan Frederiksen says: Interesting idea but does the science add up. what's the density of that material? and what's the heat conductivity of it? and what's the manufacturing cost?
the aerogel I've seen is so low density that it looks like smoke. yours look more like magic dough. it look much too heavy to fly.

if it is a great insulator it could be used for housing which likely has a much bigger potential than dirigible flight. something where hydrogen is probably much better than super heated water. dirigible flight is likely much too slow and wind vulnerable anyway.

Fortunato Cardenas says: Dan thanks for your comment the density of this aerogel is 0.1 grams/cc. it is heavier than the aerogels made by supercritical drying. Its raw materials are rice husk ash which are cheaply available. Because production does not involve supercritical drying it is very much more cheaper than conventional methods of producing aerogels.

The thermal conductivity is 60 mW/cm as tested by Saint Gobain but it can be lower if vacuum sealed. Using aerogels to insulate homes is like using a golden frying pan to cook scrambled eggs. the insulation temperature range of this aerogel is between 1000 to negative 130 Celsius. It is best for extreme environment. Dried mushrooms as insulator is enough to insulate a house.

Energy efficiency is much easier to solve than finding an alternative fuel. Of all the types transportation vehicles available to man, only the airship and ships of the sea are not dependent on infrastructures to move.

To much fuel and time is wasted on idle traffic. Airplanes are hovering in airports waiting to land while burning too much fuel. Trains are running even when empty just to connect the points which is also another form of wasting energy. In my humble opinion the best way to be energy efficient is to make transportation not dependent on infrastructures.

And this is the reason why we should focus on developing an effective and reliable airships. This aerogel may look like dough but it is a very good cheap insulator enough to insulate superheated steam that can be used to replace rare and expensive Helium.

An average speed of 60kph is all we need to replace the cars and trucks and trains with no need for roads, rails and airports. This will liberate transportation and move on to the next level. 100kph is achievable of airships beside it does not need roads so 100kph is aerial speed not on the road. Moving from point A to point B via air is very much faster than moving on a narrow crooked road even if you are running at 180kph speed.

Hydrogen is too dangerous, Helium is rare and expensive and the only remaining material abundantly available is superheated steam to be use as lift gas.

Fortunato Cardenas says: The business strategy is to promote the use of aerogel insulation in two from from two sources. Carbon aerogel and silicon aerogel. Carbon aerogel is from rice and silicon aerogel is from rice husk. they are available in powder form and solid block form which can be incorporated in almost any from of material to function as insulator. Food, Clothing and Shelter are the three basic needs that can greatly benefit from aerogel insulation. It is a very efficient insulator and only a small amount of the material is needed to properly insulate an area. Efficient insulation material means less production cost and cheaper transportation cost to produce the insulation itself.

Aerogels from rice and rice husk will reduce CO2 by reducing fuel consumption and increase efficiency. It indirectly promotes food production as well, thereby addressing food security and climate change at the same time just like hitting two birds with one stone.

It is cheaper than conventional aerogels and the production process is green. It does not need huge equipment to produce in large quantity and a very highly competitive material to replace almost all types of insulation materials known to man.
