The Pitch:

Switch-a-Switch is a simple idea to reduce energy waste. It's a simple device that clamps over wall mounted switches (like immersion heater switches and light switches) and turns them off when not needed. Timers and sensors can be used in the units, and they can be powered by low energy batteries or perhaps even windup technology. The key is that the unit does not require wiring or specialist fitting...anyone who can turn a dial and tighten a clamp can fit it! It can also be moved from unit to unit and place to place, so you can apply it when and where you need it most to maximize your savings.

Lets save the world one switch at a time and make Switch-a-Switch happen!

audrey lyle says: I love it! Im always leaving the immersion on and have thought about getting something like this fitted but they have always been too expensive by the time you get an electrician to do it.
Hope you win because I definately would buy one!

Eric Osborne says: Thanks for your comments Richard - there is a Swiss product marketed as Ecoman that may be intereted in working with you. Good Luck. Eric

gavin quinn says: Great idea do you have a working model

Richard Ferguson says: Hi Gavin,

Thanks for your comment. A working model is underdevelopment at the minute, and will hopefully be completed soon.

Richard.

Gerald Fegan says: This is a simple idea, but one that makes a lot of sense. Personally, I leave not only my immersion heating switch on all the time but switches in general including cookers (which is a hazard I know), TV’s, lights, etc. I definitely would find a product like this useful for several switches in my house.
