Joseph Crestin says: The carriers of press mainly use their own car to do that job. They are indemnified 0.17€ / km, while the average cost price of the car is superior to 0.40 €. To improve this unsustainable situation the Free Porteur’s association is launched. Two solutions are planned: an innovative bimodal distribution (Car + electric bike) and a new proposal of additional services, parallel to the news papers distribution, launched. The shopping done on internet by the press customers will be delivered with the news papers. A new similar service linking bio consumers to local bio producers is also studied.
Concerning the cost reduction of the car’s usage, by associating an electric cycle with the car, we obtained 50 to 75 % of CO2 emissions and fuel saving and a significant increase of the life expectancy of the car. To enlarge the attractiveness of the solution we are now testing the refill of the cycle battery by the car. We think that it would be interesting to add a possibility of public charging to this new, bimodal transportation mean. Before the arrival of electric vehicles, the test of that solution would be a quick and a low cost opportunity to validate a new sustainable mobility mode and the corresponding public infrastructure of electric charge. It may, in that, interest, car manufacturers, urban decision makers and energy providers.
