The Pitch:

Econitor is developing and marketing an integrated software-hardware-platform for home automation and energy optimization. Our goal is to reduce energy consumption of households across Europe. In doing so, we want to build up a company that is both economically and ecologically successful and contributes to a better world.

The cost-free Econitor Online Energy Monitor enables consumers to easily record their energy consumption data and get higher transparency with understandable information and graphics. Interactive assistants give specific advice for improvement and help the users to optimize their infrastructure, equipment and tariffs, as well as their habits and behaviour. The online software will be available end of 2009 and will enable users to improve their energy efficiency without having to install new equipment or energy meters.

The low-priced electronic devices for home automation and energy optimization can automatically meter energy consumption of household appliances and intelligently control appliances for higher comfort of living. It will be available at retailers in Germany in 2010 for a very economical price. The electronics can easily be put into operation by everybody without any technical knowledge, as it only means to plug the adapter into the grid and push a single button. All existing infrastructure in the user’s household can still be used without laying new cables or installing new appliances; the plugs can also switch off unneeded appliances to reduce waste of energy from standby mode of inefficient old appliances. The Econitor electronics have been optimized for high data security and very low own energy consumption.

Econitor thereby helps consumers to improve their energy efficiency without having to sacrifice their living standard. Today, 7 people are working with Econitor, within the next 4 years more than 50 employees will work on realizing this ambitious project. The startup is still financed privately and is currently looking for seed capital or early venture capital for finishing product development and preparing the launch.
