The Pitch:
Currently 1.3 people sit on average in a car. This implies that at least 3 seats or roughly 75% of the potential capacity is idle.
My team is about changing this situation by creating a market for these seats. Our system combines mobile phones and navigation software in order to allocate free seats in real time. Via electronic banking the driver is being paid a prespecified amount by the person who joins the ride.
At first our system will be introduced to private commuters as well as large companies, who's employees commute to work and hence could benefit from a dynamic ride sharing system. To this core group of users further groups can be easily added and integrated into the system.
Dynamic Ridesharing can help us to get greener without diminishing our mobility.
