A-Kar Electric Vehicle

Hello Siraj and thank you f...

The Pitch:

The A-Kar electric vehicle is powered by lithium ion battery cells and does not emit any harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
The body is made out of glass reinforced plastic with an aluminum frame.
The top speed is 35mph (56kph) and a full charge of five hours will give the vehicle a distance of 70 miles (112kilometres).
The driver sits centrally in the front with up to 3 passengers in the rear. The vehicle is designed to be modular do the seats can be pushed down for extra storage space.
The target markets are for taxi passenger carries and delivery vehicles for urban cities and towns.

Comments:

Marta Ciesielska says: Neat idea. I travel a lot by black taxies in London, and they pollute heavily! Will keep an eye out for your A-Kar!

David McNeight says: You don't say what the cost of charging it to run 70 miles is.

The elelctrical energy you use mostly comes from a coal or oil fired power station, so you're not saving any carbon dioxide emissions, just making them in another place.

Al-Karim Versi says: Hi David, thanks for your comment - however we are only given one minute to pitch so it is very hard to contain all information inside this.
To answer your question, the cost of charging per annum is equivalent to the price of filling a standard car with petrol once.
Major electricity providers are currently investing in marine current turbines, which use tidal power to generate energy. So you will have to agree that it is all a positive step in the right direction, bearing in mind that we are only at the start stage of the “green revolution”.

Richard Burton says: Great idea and I am very impressed that you have actually taken the first step in building an electric vehicle. I can see the potential for these vehicles as small delivery vehicles across London. Can they be used on the motorway?

Maria Wawrzyniak says: Nice one!!! hope to see them across Europe ! Good Luck !

Edward Goldsmith says: Interesting ! What is the advantge of three - wheels over say, two or four wheels?

Al-Karim Versi says: Hi Richard, thank you for your comment.
The A-Kar is designed specifically for towns and cities and had a maximum design speed of 35 m.p.h.

Al-Karim Versi says: Hi Edward, thank you for your question. Three wheels combine the advantages of four wheels and two wheels. They offer more safety than motorcycles as the vehicle does not need to be balanced or influenced by the behavior of the passenger. It has an enclosed body with seatbelts and windshields keeping the driver and passengers protected from outside impacts and different weather conditions.
The A-Kar is fundamentally much lighter than a standard four wheeler due to its simplified chassis, which means it need much less power to keep it going.
The Triangular shape is more aerodynamic than a boxy car, with less drag coefficient This all translates to a smaller motor giving you greater battery life and mileage.
The central driving position means that the A-Kar can be used in any part of the world.
More importantly, having less parts and pieces means less salvage and resources to build, and less salvage to throw away, which translates to a cleaner environment.
Hope this helps.

Arif Hussain says: I think this will be a great way of getting around London. I can see the potential for personalised tourist sighting seeing service, taxies and delivery vehicle etc... Also, reduce your carbon footprint!

siraj ahmed says: what is the maximum weight that the vehicle can carry and will this affect the speed and mileage that can be achieved?

Al-Karim Versi says: Hello Siraj and thank you for your question. The A-Kar can carry a maximum payload of 310KGs. The range of 70miles had been achieved with top end weighting (i.e. driver and 3 passengers), so in fact without payload and economical driving the mileage can in fact be increased. Top speed is not affected within the weight range. Hope this helps.

imi sal says: nice tripod, can i have one!!!!

Shazmin Hirjani says: A Great, Innovative Concept which offers great benefits in reducing emissions, something which in this modern age is vital.
The A Kar also seems easy on the eye, looking comfortable and spacious. Being able to hold a driver plus an additional 3 passengers illustrates it can compete with a standard petrol car, especially in busy cities, however going that extra mile, in that it is also beneficial for the environment
Congratulations- very well thought through

Nadine Mussa - Khakhar says: I think this is a great idea!
With global warming taking us over, the A-Kar looks to be the next step forward. I would most definitely use this to get around town as I am certain that it would be more economical and safer for the environment!

It is also futuristic in its look and looks very savvy!
It would probably actually really help eliminate the problems we have in London - mainly the congestion, which we get charged for.

The A-Kar looks as though it could help our pockets as well as the environment.

I do have one question however?
How does it get charged if it runs on batteries? Would there be power points that would charge it?

Also, when and where could i purchase one?!

Dana Nasr says: Good one, Karim!
Hope you gonna find a smart investor soon! :)

hanif kanji says: Excellent idea and prototype looks really cool.

we need these low carbon vehicles to get on the streets so there is user acceptance of this new technology. As it is adopted, there will be more resources and innovation and we will see that all important reduction in emissions taking hold.

Well done and keep going!

Meenaz Rajan says:
Good Luck with this Great Idea!

We need to encourage these type of vehicles!

Nash Virji says: Hey Al-Karim, this is an awesome idea. I want to invest, how do I get in?
