it seems that without exception you have taken all videos and squashed their height so it's quite distorted. for those videos with just a talking head and a low quality video camera and poor lighting it doesn't matter much but my video has content inportant to the message. it's really unprofessional to be that careless with the video material. I've written to the support email a week ago but it seems that two items in the email was too much so they just ignored the worst problem, the incorrect video aspect. (The other problem was that no thumbnail appeared for my video)

please fix it asap! I'll gladly provide a new video in case you don't know how to fix it that compensates for the error but please do something.

this is my contribution but it's important for all who have video information

I concord with the above message, a 4:3 ratio was advised and then all videos were sqashed to 16:9. I was wondering why.

James - thanks for your question.

This is from the FAQs

- Keep your video to a maximium length of one minute.
- You may use, .avi, .mov or .wmv formats.
- Your video size must not exceed 100mb.
- Please do not upload videos which contain images or music which may be copyright protected.

In addition to this my advice would be keep it in 4:3 aspect ratio. Optimum pixels 400 x 300

Thanks
Victoria "

The Flash converter is not adjusted to the most loaded videos! Extremly to see on my video with included text.
Perhaps it would be nice to have a chance to transmit a new version from our side.
From my side no problem, when we have another try free. For me for second reason, because to clear rights of a song from 1912 it takes 3 - 6 month, so I cut it out by loosing the dramaturgy. Meanwhile I open a better version you can see on Link http://www.pohler.de/downl/swissbomb.wmv!
It would be nice to get feedback.

I did wonder what format to do my video in, looking at examples already out and counting the pixels I noticed they appeared to be in 384 x 216 (Aspect ratio size 16:9) and I was going to do mine in that, but then I also noticed the same reply you saw about "4:3 aspect ratio. Optimum pixels 400 x 300", so I pondered, which to go for..

If I used the first one, then my video could look like its supposed to and not skewif, but then, what if they convert it to 400 x 300! then it would look equally silly!

So I thought, well, as no one else seems to be going for 16:9 so I may as well follow the crowd and if we all end up with videos looking a little worse for wear it doesn't matter. (Which is why I used very large font sizes in my video in case the text was too hard to read otherwise if it got distorted.)

given their total absence here I think the finalists may already have been chosen and they can't be bothered to fix anything

Dear Members,

Thank you for airing your concerns over the video playback ratios.

This is something we are currently looking into so please bear with us. The issue is made more complicated due to the variety of different formats of video we recieved so while it is unlikely that we will have a coverall solution for all videos we are looking at solutions that will improve the situation for the majority of entrants. This will probably lead to a conformity of a 4:3 ratio for all videos.

We will update in this thread when we have more news on this subject.

Regards,

The Good Entrepreneur Team

4:3 is fine. I actually think you can easily fix it simply by setting the playback area on the webpages to a 4:3 size. if you can do that I think it will work.
right now it seems the video processing did it right for all aspects, making them all into 4:3 videos but they are then displayed in a 16:9 area. I think if you just change the playback area to 4:3 it will work fine. if possible.

and if you've processed all the videos into 400x300 then you should probably make the playback area that size too. could you convey this to the developers?

Hi Dan,
I am puzzled, I could swear yesterday I saw an other comment from you in this thread. Did you take it back?

I was puzzled too because I could have sworn I posted one. Rather than fix the problem they start suppressing the calls for fixing it..

I've just tried downloading the video and they are fine so the problem is purely that you have chosen a 16:9 display area for 4:3 video. should be an instant fix!!!
WAKE UP!!!!

It's your fault: There wasn't the call for 16 to 9 standard!
The easiest way: Give those with "wrong" normal format the chance to reload one new version!
